A press release is one of the many marketing tools that disseminate relevant information about a company and its activities. It is a popular method of promotion but must be used with care and caution to have the maximum impact. It is necessary to write a press release in the right way, while getting the word out about the products or services of any company. A press release is basically a channel of information that is topical and newsworthy about the company that is distributed to the media. It is necessary to have an idea of what to say in a press release and how to say it. A well-written, informative and interesting press release can be a very effective method of disseminating essential information about your company to the world at large.

The Eye-catching Headline
The headline is the first thing that strikes the reader and must be clear, concise and to the point. It should be eye-catching and contain the main keywords of the press release; that is it should convey the message or the information in just one sentence. Headlines are usually in bold and larger than the body text.

The Body Content
The actual content of the press release should be concise and give the relevant information in a simple, straightforward manner. There should be no elaborate language, long sentences and repetition. It should deal with the facts whatever they are: an event, a new product or service, forthcoming plans of the company and so on. The press release should read like a news report. The date and the city where the press release was written and distributed should be given at the start.

Company Information
Some relevant information about the company should be included, so that when a media person reads the press release he/she would not miss out this data from the news item. The heading for this section would be “About ABC Company”, ABC standing for the name of the organization. In around half a dozen sentences, a description about the company should include the nature of the business, policy and any other important details. This section should end with your website URL. Contact details must be given and three ### symbols must appear at the end of the press release, in accordance with journalistic norms.

One thing to also keep in mind when writing a press release is the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) benefits that can help building links to your business website. Press releases can be distributed quickly to a broad number of sources and are great for exposure and building your credibility along with your brand. Press releases can provoke interest of your products or services to the masses and at times can actually be free to distribute. These are great for building target "backlinks" to high page rank sites that can help boost your rankings in search engines as well as increase traffic to your website.

Hi Becky and yes I do! There a lot of great free press release sites that you can submit to. A few that I can suggest are: PRLog.org, , , and . A great paid service that is popular is . Also, if you search free press release sites in Google you will pull up an even bigger list of free press release sites to submit to. Hope this helps!
